WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT CELL
The Women Development Cell (WDC) is an essential entity within the college community dedicated to promoting the holistic development and well-being of female students. Recognizing the unique challenges and opportunities that women face in educational environments, WDC strives to create an inclusive and empowering atmosphere that enables female students to excel academically, professionally, and personally.
Envisioning the creation of an empowered environment for girl students, Seventh Day Adventist Arts and Science College too has a WDC with the motto of sending out empowered females into the larger society after the three years of college.
OBJECTIVES
Empowerment: To empower female students by providing them with opportunities for skill development, leadership training, and self-confidence enhancement.
Awareness: To raise awareness about women’s rights, gender equality, and social issues that affect women, fostering a sense of responsibility and advocacy among students.
Support: To offer a support system for female students, addressing their academic, emotional, and career-related needs through counselling, mentorship, and guidance.
Professional Development: To organize workshops, seminars, and networking events that enable female students to explore career options, enhance employability skills, and establish connections with professionals.
Health and Well-being: To promote physical and mental health among female students by organizing health camps, awareness sessions, and stress management workshops.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION

With such a blissful thought, Seventh-Day Adventist Arts and Science College celebrated International Women’s Day on 9th March 2023 to motivate the female students to dream big and be ambitious enough to accomplish their set goals. This day is perceived as a global day celebrating the exclusive achievements of women in various spheres such as social, economic, cultural and political. The programme was organised in such a manner that the heterogenous audience could grasp the very essence of the importance of women empowerment.
The programme was hosted by Miss Olivia Joseph (Third Year student from English Department) and commenced with a speech delivered by the Vice President, Mr. Ramesh Anumolu. Later, a few students gave declamation of renowned women such as- Priyanka Chopra (Priyanki Nanavati from English Department), Neeta Ambani (Kashish Thaker from Psychology Department), and Chimamanda Adichie (Aditi Jana from English Department). Dr. Vaishnavi Upadhyaya delivered an enlightening speech on women.
Furthermore, the faculties were felicitated by the honourable Vice President for their selfless service. There are a lot of women taking up lead roles on world platform and thus a group of girls represented those women. Towards the end of the event, Dr. Akanksha Kumari, Sociology faculty at the college extended a vote of thanks.
AWARENESS PROGRAM ON WOMEN HYGIENE
Good hygiene practices are essential for maintaining overall health and well-being. Women’s hygiene, in particular, plays a crucial role in preventing infections, promoting self-confidence, and ensuring a high quality of life. The Women’s Hygiene Awareness Program aims to educate and empower women of all ages to take charge of their hygiene and health.
The WDC of Seventh Day Adventist College organized a meeting cum awareness generation session with the girl students of all the three years of B.A and B.Sc. on 24th January, 2023 where our Zoology faculty Dr. Ankita Shah along with other female faculties discussed the issues and importance of maintaining female hygiene with the young students.
